My rolling home.
Si vous me suivez sur Instagram vous ne le savez déjà que trop, depuis quelques mois j'aménage un fourgon utilitaire en van.
Je ne saurais dire depuis combien d'années je bave devant les photos de vanlifers voyageant partout dans le monde avec leur "maison roulante", quelle liberté ! Pas une seconde je n'aurais pensé me lancer dans cette aventure jusqu'au jour où tout a basculé (ouais, ça le fait grave cette fin de phrase non ? Ahaha.) Le destin nous joue parfois de drôle de tours... Cet été je suis partie une semaine avec mon ami Samuel et "Stan" son van 100% fait-maison le long de notre si belle côte-ouest, l'occasion de tester en vrai la vie de ceux que j'admirais et vous l'aurez compris je n'ai pas été déçue. J'ai été séduite. Séduite par cette liberté, ces paysages qui défilent, cette proximité avec la nature. Séduite par ces spots de rêves que l'on découvre aux premières lueurs du matin. Mais aussi et surtout séduite par le fait de vivre avec moins. Un sage chantait dans mon enfance "il en faut peu pour être heureux, il faut se satisfaire du nécessaire"... et c'est bien vrai.
Tout ça c'était absolument merveilleux mais c'était éphémère. Et puis ça.
De par mon travail je roulais en utilitaire, un Citroën Berlingo d'un bleu un peu douteux, dégoté à prix d'or par mon père juste avant l'ouverture de ma boutique. Mais je l'aimais ce p'tit ! Puis un soir une jeune femme oublia de mettre le pied sur son frein et fonça droit sur moi. Plus de peur que de mal pour moi mais pour mon Berlingo c'était bel & bien son arrêt de mort qu'elle venait de signer #heartbreak.
Mais ce fut un mal pour un bien car grâce à l'indemnisation de l'assurance j'ai pu acheter un nouvel utilitaire, plus grand et désormais connu sous le nom de "Rory the Jumpy", utilitaire qui sera pour anecdote la dernière vente de mon Papa à quelques jours de sa retraite, c'est quand même fou la vie.
Me voici donc l'heureuse propriétaire d'un jumpy... et c'est grand mine de rien un jumpy... ça s'aménagerait bien un jumpy.... OH GOD. J'y étais. Ce n'était pas prévu, ce n'était pas vraiment le meilleur moment et pourtant, j'y étais. Du rêve à la réalité il n'y avait qu'un pas, un pas chez Leroy Merlin. Et j'y ai sauté à pieds-joints !

If you follow me on Instagram you already know since a few months now I am working on a van conversion.
I can not say how long I have been dreaming about the photos of vanlifers traveling around the world with their "rolling home", what a freedom! This summer I left for a week with my friend Samuel and "Stan" his 100% home-made van along our beautiful west coast, the opportunity to test the true life of those I admired & I was not disappointed. I was seduced. Seduced by this freedom, these landscapes, that parade, this proximity with nature. Seduced by these dreams spots that we discover at the first light of the morning. But also and especially seduced by living with less. All this was absolutely wonderful but it was ephemeral. And then that.
From my job I drove in utility, a Citroën Berlingo, i get hime at a very good price by my father just before the opening of my shop! And then one evening a young woman forgot to put her foot on her brake and rushed straight on me. More fear than harm for me but for my Berlingo she had just signed her death sentence. But it was a bad for a good because thanks to the insurance I could buy a new utility, bigger and better known as "Rory the Jumpy" utility that will be for anecdote the last sale of my Dad a few days from his retirement, it's still crazy life.
Here I am, then, the happy owner of a jumpy ... and it is a great deal for nothing a jumpy... OH GOD. I was there. It was not planned, it was not really the best time but I was there. From dream to reality there was only one step, one step in a burrow shop. And I jumped!

- L'aménagement -
L'aménagement d'un camion ce n'est pas rien croyez-moi... mais c'est vraiment une super expérience !
Je n'y connaissais absolument rien et surtout je n'avais que très peu d'argent à y investir. Il m'a donc fallu chercher, chercher et chercher encore les meilleures solutions d'aménagement il fallait que cela soit simple à réaliser, pratique, économique et esthétique. Me voilà bien...
Je ne saurais vous dire combien de nuits j'ai passé à regarder tous les vans aménagés, tous les sites spécialisés, forums & autres - franchement maintenant je suis incollable !
Je ne vais pas vous détailler tout l'aménagement dans cet article cela serait bien trop long mais si cela vous intéresse je pourrai faire un post dédié à cette partie alors dites-le moi en commentaire si c'est le cas !
La première étape c'est l'isolation : sol, murs, plafond. Pour cela j'ai utilisé un isolant mince multicouche, j'ai recouvert le tout avec du contre-plaqué que j'ai lui-même recouvert avec des lames PVC imitation chêne vieilli initialement prévues pour le sol mais ça a très bien fonctionné sur mes murs et je trouve le résultat plutôt pas mal non ?
Ensuite il me fallait un lit et des rangements, j'ai donc opté pour un coffre de lit pliant (tasseaux + medium) avec des portes aimantées afin d'accéder facilement à mes affaires ! Le médium n'étant pas très confortable vous en conviendrez... j'ai découpé en 2 parties le matelas mousse polyuréthane JÖMNA de chez Ikéa solution hyper économique ! L'espace étant réduit j'ai opté pour deux tablettes en bois rabattables qui servent de coin cuisine, de table à manger et de bureau, tout en un...enfin en deux :D Côté lumière je me suis contentée de deux guirlandes LED à piles achetées trois fois rien sur Amazon et qui me suffisent amplement.
L'eau, le gaz et l’électricité ? C'était bien trop compliqué pour moi et surtout peu nécessaire. Pour l'eau de simples jerricans me suffisent, pour cuisiner, brancher mes chargeurs & me chauffer j'ai trois indispensables : le réchaud Camp Bistro 2 de chez Campingaz, un convertisseur DC 12V AC 220V-240V de chez Suaoki et un chauffage d’appoint le Highlander Compact Portable Camping Gas 1.3kW Heater.
Pour les finitions : rideaux, housses des matelas et les petites touches déco en sky noir proviennent tous de chez Mondial Tissus.
La petite étagère à épices peinte en noir vient de chez Ikea et le tapis aztèque de chez Cocktail Scandinave.
Making a van conversion is not nothing believe me... but it's really a great experience!
I knew absolutely nothing and especially I had very little money to invest in. So I had to search again & again for the best planning solutions: simple to make, practical, economical and aesthetic. Here I am...
I will not be able to tell you how many nights I spent watching all the converted vans on Instagram & blogs , all the specialized sites, forums & others - now I'm unbeatable! I will not detail all the layout in this article it would be too long but if you're interested I could do a post dedicated to this part so tell me in comment if it is!
The first step is the insulation: floor, walls, ceiling. For that I used a multilayer thin insulation, I covered all with plywood that I overed with PVC boards originally planned for the ground but it worked very well on my walls and I find the result pretty good not?
Then I needed a bed and storage, so I opted for a folding bed box (cleats + medium) with magnetic doors to easily access my stuff! The medium is not very comfortable you will agree ... I cut in two parts the polyurethane foam mattress JÖMNA from Ikea hyper economic solution! The space is reduced so I opted for two folding wooden shelves that serve as kitchen area, dining table and desk, all in one ... in two :D
For the light I have two battery LED garlands bought for nothing on Amazon and that is really enough.
Water, gas and electricity? It was too complicated for me and not necessary. For water simple cans are enough for me to cook, plug in my chargers & keep warm I have three essential: Camping Bistro 2 camp stove at Campingaz, a converter DC 12V AC 220V-240V from Suaoki and a heater top the Highlander Compact Portable Camping Gas 1.3kW Heater.
For the finishes: curtains, mattress covers and small decorative touches in black sky all come from Mondial Tissus.
The small spice rack painted in black comes from Ikea and the Aztec carpet from Cocktail Scandinavian.
- Et maintenant ? And now?-
Et bien ce n'est pas encore terminé... et je crois que ça ne le sera jamais car je n'arrête pas d'avoir de nouvelles idées haha !
Priorité numéro 1 finir le plafond, il est isolé mais pas encore recouvert je cherche toujours la meilleure façon de le faire mais ça ne va plus tarder. L'installation d'un auvent sur le coté du van, qu'il fasse beau ou qu'il pleuve c'est vraiment un confort incroyable mais là c'est les €€€ qui manquent pour le moment alors encore un peu de patience...
Mais cela ne m'a pas empêché de partir à l'aventure dans les Pyrénées il y a deux mois et en Auvergne il y a quelques semaines et devinez quoi ? Testé & approuvé !

Well it's not over yet ... and I think it never will be because I can not stop having new ideas haha!
Priority number 1 finish the ceiling, it is isolated but not covered yet I'm still looking for the best way to do it but it will not be long.
The installation of an awning on the side of the van for sunny or rainy days it's really incredible comfort but here it is the €€€ which are missing for the moment so I'll have to wait...
But that did not stop me from going on an adventure! In the Pyrenees two months ago and in Auvergne a few weeks ago and guess what? Tested & approved!
